Details
This is an advanced warm weather shell. It provides a thin but often indispensible line of protection from wind and/or rain while adding zero unnecessary insulation, weight, bulk or drag. Helium fabric is quiet with an almost silky hand, and is perforated in key areas to maximize ventilation. The semi-fitted shape keeps drag to a minimum, which is important since the odds are good that if you’re wearing your Helium Jacket, you probably already have your nose into the wind. Under such conditions, it isn’t really appealing to have on an outer layer masquerading as a drag parachute.
The truly shocking thing about Sugoi’s Helium line is its weight. Or, more precisely, its lack thereof. For purposes of perspective, consider that even the jacket in the Helium line is lighter than Sugoi’s hot weather RS R Short Sleeve Tee, which is itself an airy wonder. Yes, you read that last sentence correctly: Helium outerwear is almost certainly as light as your hot weather short sleeve tech tee. Probably lighter.
The “Sugoi Touch”: attractive gunmetal trim, zippered rear stash pocket with internal wire port, flattering and functional drop-tail cut, and 17.5 square inches of Scotchlite reflective material. Full separating zip with guard. Squishes to about the size of an apple for packing.
